The Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments (AVCOG) is accepting applications for an Accountant. AVCOG is a quasi-municipal government organization serving communities and businesses in Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties.
The Accountant is a highly responsible administrative position providing the agency with accurate, timely accounting support including payroll, accounts receivable and payable, monthly journal entries and close, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, and cash flow management.
The Accountant operates according to AVCOG bylaws and policies, and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations, and under the general guidance and direct supervision of the Finance Director.
AVCOG is seeking candidates with a minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience. An Associate’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university is required; a Bachelor’s degree and nonprofit, state, and/or federal funding experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
Candidates should have good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; demonstrated careful attention to detail and superior accuracy in work; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; and demonstrated ability to work successfully as a part of a team.
