Planning Day 2018

Below are presentations from Planning Day:

9:10 to 10:30 a.m.  
Option 1: Short Term Rentals Panel Discussion

Short term housing rentals (Airbnb, Vrbo, etc.) are becoming more common everywhere.  Learn what legal issues should be considered before regulating short term rentals, hear what other communities have done, and ask questions of the panel.

Option 2: Stormwater for Projects
This workshop addresses Stormwater issues that towns should consider when reviewing new projects, (designed for towns which are not an MS4 community).

Option 1: Regional Status of Electric Cars and Chargers

Do you know where the closest electric vehicle charging station is? Interested in how one might benefit your town? Come find out more about the uptake of electric cars in Maine, what is being done to expand the charging network in our region, and how this new technology is benefitting communities.

Option 2: Roads and the new Discontinuance Process
Confused about the difference between abandonment and discontinuance of roads?  Hopefully you won’t be after this session.  The new discontinuance process which took effect October 2018 will be presented and questions answered.

Marijuana Laws and Ordinance Development
You may think we’ve been here and done it but it’s changed . . . again.  2018 has been a busy year for the State legislature which passed a new Adult Use/Recreational Law and updated Medical laws.  This session will provide a summary of the new laws and discuss how the town as an employer is affected, and how to approach and what to consider in ordinance development for regulating medical and adult use.
